Able To Work Ltd · Last updated 13 August 2026

Able To Work Ltd (“Able To Work”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is building a disability-first platform for entrepreneurs. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you join our waiting list at abletowork.co.uk, and what rights you have over that data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

Able To Work Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, meaning we decide how and why it is processed.

If you'd like our company registration number for verification, or have any other question about this policy, contact us at info@abletowork.co.uk.

2. What information we collect

When you join our Founding Member waiting list, we collect:

We do not ask for or store payment details, passwords, or government ID at the waiting-list stage.

3. Special category data (disability, health, neurodivergence)

Because Able To Work is a disability-first platform, understanding whether you're disabled, neurodivergent or living with a long-term health condition helps us build a product that genuinely meets your needs. Under UK GDPR, this kind of information is “special category data” and requires a higher standard of protection.

This question is always optional. If you choose to answer it, we ask for your separate, explicit consent before that information is saved — this consent is not bundled with any other agreement, and no boxes are pre-ticked. You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing info@abletowork.co.uk, and we will delete that specific information from our records.

We use this information only to understand the needs of our waiting-list community in aggregate and to shape product decisions — never to make automated decisions about you, and never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Why we process your information, and our lawful basis

PurposeLawful basis (UK GDPR Art. 6)
Managing the waiting list and contacting you about your registrationConsent (Art. 6(1)(a)) and steps taken at your request prior to a future contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
Understanding demand and shaping the product before launchLegitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — building a platform that works for the people who'll use it
Processing disability/health/neurodivergence information you choose to shareExplicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a))
Keeping the site secure and preventing abuse (e.g. spam submissions)Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))

You can withdraw consent at any time; this won't affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew it.

5. Who we share information with

We don't sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the waiting list, under contracts that require them to protect it:

We may also disclose information where required by law, for example to a regulator or law enforcement body.

6. Where your data is stored and how it's protected

Your data is stored on servers operated by our providers within the European Union, and is encrypted in transit. Access to our database is restricted and access-controlled; only authorised Able To Work personnel can view waiting-list submissions, and public/anonymous access to read this data is disabled at the database level.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep waiting-list submissions for as long as you remain on the list, and for a reasonable period afterwards to invite you to the platform at launch. If we decide not to proceed with the platform, or if you ask us to delete your data, we will remove it within 30 days, save for anything we're legally required to retain for longer.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email info@abletowork.co.uk. We'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

9. Cookies

This site does not use any cookies beyond what's needed for your immediate session — we don't run analytics or tracking cookies by default. On the waiting-list form, there is one optional, non-essential cookie tool: the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel, which helps us understand how effective our advertising is and lets us report successful sign-ups back to Meta as a conversion. This is only ever switched on with your explicit, separate consent — an unticked checkbox next to the submit button lets you opt in, and it has no effect on your registration either way. If you leave it unticked, the Pixel never runs for you.

If you tick that box, the Pixel may set cookies such as _fbp and _fbc in your browser, and — when you successfully join the waiting list — we also share a hashed (not plain-text) version of your email address, along with your IP address and browser type, directly with Meta via their Conversions API, so that a successful sign-up can be matched back to the ad you clicked. Meta's own use of this data is governed by their Privacy Policy.

You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing us and asking us to stop, or simply by leaving the checkbox unticked on any future visit.

10. Children

Our waiting list is intended for people aged 18 and over who are considering self-employment. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform develops. We'll update the “last updated” date above whenever we do, and let you know directly if a change materially affects how we use your data.
